Cinemagraph...

For the past couple days I have been working on a Cinemagraph, to get an idea of the type of concepts I could create.  This particular one is a composite of many different texture elements that I got with my membership I have at cgtextures.com.  The motion is actually a video that I shot with my iPhone 4 and brought into photoshop.  Please click the image to see it full screen and in motion.  Thanks.

This next one I create, I'll also create a tutorial on how I put everything together.  It will have to be a multi part tutorial though as this took me a couple days to create.  about 30 hours in total time.

Anyways, I hope you like it, and, I hope that blogger will animate the 256 color animated gif.

Thanks for checking it out.

RIP Steve Jobs - 1955 - 2011.

Steve will be missed for sure.  My positive thoughts go out to the Apple family.

Okay so I was wrong...

So I'm on my iPad right now, and my website works perfect on it. And actually I must say that adobe did their homework on their gallery system. The "touch" interface works really well. It's best to have the iPad in vertical mode though, as once you scroll down into the gallery you can not scroll back up. This is an issue I I'll address, but for now it's cool.

So today I decided I was going to switch my galleries.  I have been using Apple's Mobile Me gallery, but since Apple is going to be shutting down Mobile Me, I decided that I was not going to wait any longer.  For the past few months I have been searching for the best gallery.  So far I have found a few that might do the trick.  So for right now I am giving Photoshop.com a try.  Now I have been a member since it was in beta testing, so its been a few years.  I did not know however, until recently, that they had a gallery system.  I really like it a lot, but, there is an issue that I do not care for.  It uses Adobe Flash.  But I guess I could have seen that one coming.  After all, Adobe owns Photoshop and Flash.  Oh well.  Ill figure something out soon enough.  For now though, I'm going to give this one a try.

Let me know what you think about it.

PS,

Im hoping that once Adobe has the new version of flash out, that is supposed to convert video to h264, that this will work on the iPad.  we shal see.

moving, new computer, artwork...

So, I have been in the process of moving for 2 weeks, well almost.  I moved into my new apartment on August 26th, but I have lots to do yet before I will call it completed.

Next up, computer time.  Funding is low due to my move, but, in the next month or two I should be back up to where I need to be in order to build me a nice machine.  I have the parts picked out at newegg too, it should be rather amazing once it is built.

Now on to my artwork.  It has been weeks if not months since I have had time for my own projects, so next week I feel I will finally have free time to start working on things again.  I also have some new idea's for Creative Mind Entertainment's iPhone apps.  The next few months could prove to be rather amazing, saying all goes according to plan.

Also, one last thing.  At work, we recently shot a spec commercial that was designed for Jeep.  Being in the Toledo OH area, this makes it even more meaningful, being that the Jeep is built here.  Ill post up shots once everything is complete.

Anyways, tomorrow is Friday, soooo, happy Thursday :)

In need of a new computer...

Okay, so here it goes.  I am in need of a new computer, be it mac or pc, I really do not care at the moment. I do have some requirements though.  I must be able to run the latest version of UDK and the Direct X 11 features.

I want to be able to create some highly detailed environment art using tessellation, which my current pc is unable to do.  the current mac I have is a Powermac G5 that is maxed out.  I can run Maya just fine, and also use Photoshop CS3 currently but would like to jump into the next gen of apps.

I have been thinking about building a computer, did it years ago, but all my apps are on the mac currently, so therefore Ill have to re-buy everything I'm thinking.

Next topic,

At work we are on the horizon of getting busy with some new video shoots.  Once I can, Ill get some samples up.

Anyways, have an amazing day and take care.

been awhile...

So at work I have been a bit busy, so I have not updated the ole site in a bit.  Currently I am working on some assets that I would like to bring into UDK, however, my computer does not run UDK at the moment, due to me being on my Powermac G5.

I have an HP laptop, but its better off being used as a door stop.

I'll post up some WIP screens soon.

Red Riding Hood Part 1 Final

I finally got part 1 of my Red Riding Hood series finalized.  I think she turned out rather well. :)  I added some effects to this one so that it would look more like film, and now I am thinking about doing the same with the other one to make is so that they kind of match.  We will see though.  Right click on the image and open it up in a new window.  You have to see it in full size in order to see all the details.

I have a few more pictures left to edit from Kayla's photo shoot.  Once I get them finalized I'll have them posted up.

Photo Shoot Delayed

Well, this weekends photo shoot has been delayed due to weather and also some scheduling conflicts.  No worries though.

Also, I have been asked to design a book cover and will be going through what is required with the artwork this weekend, so Saturday's delay is actually okay with me.

Also, I have decided that I am going to be putting together a website to start selling prints of my work.  Stay tuned for when and where that will be happening.

Happy Thursday...

Another WORK IN PROGRESS...

Here is another work in progress shot of my 2nd Red Riding Hood scene.  I'm almost finished, however I have some more tweaks to do to the wolf and there are a few other minor spots that I would like to attend to as well.  Over all I would say this piece is turning out rather well and am happy with the progress so far.

Thanks for checking her out.

---WIP---

So have I have a Work In Progress image for ya, its my second version of my Red Riding Hood theme, although, this is actually the first in the series.  For some reason, I decided to start with the second part rather than the first.  Oh well.

Anyways, here is a sample of what I am working on.  The layout is final, however the color grading, adding of props, and some other items are still on my things to complete list.  There are a lot of things planned for this piece that I have to finish yet.  I am hoping to get this finalized with in the next week or so.

Also, this weekend, April 30th, I have another photo shoot planned.  I will post some shots up next week of that once I get the chance to do so.

Well, happy monday folks :)

First 3 Commercials...

Here are the first three commercials that I had the pleasure of editing, color grading, and on the "gamers" commercial, sound design with Lesniewicz Associates.  I laid out all of the audio tracks for each, however the audio was mixed at Level 2 Audio in Perrysburg Ohio.  This first two have HD options, full screen them and turn on the HD.  The third one only goes up to 480P, so please use that higher setting.

You can check out www.lesniewicz.com for more information on the company.

Photo shoot 4/9/11

On saturday I had a photo shoot.  The model is a friend of mine, one who interned under me to learn photoshop and other graphic art applications.  We worked for nearly 5 hours, out of about 100 shots, I would say that about half turned out, which I do not see that being too bad.

Here are some final versions of a few shots that I have done.

Ill have some before and afters up once I get more finished.  I'm currently working on a composite of one of the shots that is themed.  Currently, I think, it's turning out rather nice.

Thanks for reading the update, and also would like to thank Kayla for modeling for me.

Tutorials may take longer than had planned...

So on my way to work last Friday, March 11th 2011,  a semi truck ran me off the road into a side rail. Other than a few scratches and a messed up headlight I was fine, a bit pissed off but none the less fine. Well I called the cops and had to wait for the officer to arrive.  While waiting I saw an SUV spin out and almost crash into a few cars, including me, but luckily missed everything.  Shortly after that I was rear ended, as another car lost control as well.  It's crazy how it all happened, it was fast and I will say that I don't think I was scared, as I saw the car coming and was prepared. I was screaming F-Bombs for sure, but my first thought was, "is the other driver okay?"

Luckily she was, however she was coughing up blood due to hitting the steering wheel with her chest.  The doctors who looked at us say she will be fine.  I strained my right shoulder muscles, no broken bones, thank goodness.

Here are some pics of my car. There is one of the minor damage before the major collision and of course after.

As you can see, I was very lucky to come out with just a shoulder injury, let alone come out alive.  I wish I could transfer thought to video by just thinking it. It felt like I was in a slow motion movie as it happened.

I'll be working on the tutorials asap, as I really feel they will be a nice add on to my site.  For now, take care, drive safe, wear your seat belt, and watch for dumb ass semi truck drivers who run you off the road and don't stop to see if you are okay.

It has been nearly a week already and State Farm, the supposed good neighbor, really has not been.  Its been hit or miss with them.  On the health side they have been great, they even gave me 85% of my wages that I missed on Friday, and will continue to do so if the doctor says I cant work, which I am hoping is not the case, although it is rather difficult even just typing here.

My shoulder is killing me still, and now my should blade hurts as well, and I have this click feeling inside my shoulder.  I'm not too sure, but I don't think its supposed to do that.  Anyways, I'll get to the tutorials asap.

Tutorials...

Okay, so this week I'm working on my first set of tutorials.  I have a few in mind for photoshop that I am going to work on first, then I have a few for Maya and Final Cut Pro.  Also, I will show you my work flow that I use when working on my projects.

For now, have a wonderful day.

Commercials

2 of the commercials that I edited are now in post audio mixing, so hopefully I'll be able to post them in my gallery within two weeks. I must say, without being biased, they look fantastic!

Trying out the email feature. Here is a picture of the editing setup I use at Lesniewicz Associates.
Figured I would test out my phone integration, via texting.

Testing out my new blog!

So as i am building my website, I'm trying out new things for it.  I am using Apple iWeb 3 to build everything, it is limited in nature, but there are lots of tricks to get what you want out of it.  For instance, right now I am displaying this very blog post using frames.  I'm not sure if this will help with the SEO though.

I want to have comments on my posts, and since I use my own webspace, iWeb's comments can not be used.  This is why I chose to try out Blogger and put it into an "iFrame".

Heres hoping that it will work.
